Children's Health

Our GPs provide comprehensive medical care for children, including health checks, routine immunisations, asthma and allergy management and plans, advice regarding nutrition, management of common childhood illnesses such as gastro and support for emotional wellbeing. Children under 16 are bulk billed for GP consultations.

We are also extremely fortunate to have paediatrician Dr Bindu Bali with us fortnightly to provide expertise in management of children’s health. A referral is required to make an appointment with Dr Bali.

One of the first things doctors learn during their paediatric term in medical school is to listen to parents concerns regarding their children and to take them seriously. This is a guiding principle in the management of our paediatric patients. Respect, empathy, and confidentiality are particularly important when treating adolescent patients. We will often see an adolescent patient with their parent and then on their own. We will explain to the patient and their parents that the consultation is confidential. The only circumstances where confidentiality can be broken are when we believe the patient is a risk to themselves or to someone else.

Our GPs enjoy working with families in the community outside of consultations to improve the health of children, for example providing an education session to kinder families regarding flu vaccines and going out to local schools to provide flu vaccines to teachers and other staff.
